Toyota sales up again last month
Toyota sales continued to grow last month as the Japanese automaker registered 16,659 units, up 1.8 percent compared to August 2015. Toyota’s grow was fueled by hybrid vehicles and trucks, although car sales also did well.
Toyota hybrid sales up dramatically in August
Hybrid vehicle sales were up 38.5 percent in August 2015 with a total of 1,685 hybrid models sold, 1,559 of which were Toyota Prius models. Toyota’s pioneer hybrid car’s sales were up 51.2 percent last month.
On the other hand, Toyota Canada’s truck division also did very well, recording a 20th straight month of sales increases with a total of 11,179 units sold, up 11.2 percent compared to 2015. The RAV4 and Highlander led the way in the truck division that registered 9,822 units last month, up 11.5 percent compared to last year. There were a total of 4,482 Toyota RAV4 units sold last month, an increase of 32.2 percent and a seventh straight month of increased sales.
The Toyota Highlander set a new record for a month of August with 1,149 units sold, up 34.1 percent.
