CHOOSING THE
RIGHT TIRES

Your tires are the only connection between your vehicle and the road, which makes choosing the right set more important than many drivers think. They directly affect braking distance, fuel efficiency, handling and overall safety, meaning the right tires can significantly impact how your vehicle performs in every season.

In Newmarket, where driving conditions range from hot summer pavement to icy winter roads, understanding your tire options helps you stay in control and get the most long-term value from your investment.

  • All Season Tires

    All-Season Tires

All-season tires are designed for everyday use and year-round convenience. They perform best in temperatures above 7°C, providing a smooth, quiet ride in both dry and wet conditions, but lose traction as temperatures drop. They’re ideal for drivers who want a simple, one-set solution for mild climates.

  • Winter Tires

    Winter Tires

Winter tires are designed for cold conditions, using softer rubber and deeper tread to maintain grip on snow and ice. They offer the shortest stopping distances in winter but wear faster and lose effectiveness above 10°C. Ideal for drivers focused on safety and control in cold weather.

  • Summer Tires

    Summer Tires

Summer tires are designed for warm-weather driving, offering maximum grip, responsive handling, and strong braking performance. They perform best in temperatures above 15°C but lose traction as conditions get colder. Ideal for drivers who prioritize performance and control during warmer months.

WHEN TO REPLACE
YOUR TIRES

Knowing when to replace your tires is essential for safe driving on Aurora roads. Tread depth plays a major role in traction and braking. At 6/32” or more, performance remains strong. Between 4/32” and 5/32”, grip starts to decline and replacement is recommended. Once below 4/32” for all-season and summer tires, or below 9/64” for winter tires, driving conditions become unsafe and new tires are needed.

Our tire shop also simplifies seasonal changes with an easy, low-cost tire storage solution. It’s a convenient, no hassle option for drivers in Newmarket and across York Region.

HOW TO READ TIRE SIZE

Tire sizing is a simple code that tells you what fits your vehicle. Most drivers focus on three key numbers, like 195/65R15.

In this example, 195 is the tire width in millimetres, 65 is the aspect ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of width), and 15 is the wheel diameter in inches. You’ll also see a load index (89), showing how much weight the tire can support, and a speed rating (H), indicating its maximum safe speed.
