2017 Toyota Corolla : the world’s most popular sedan has a lot to offer

Canadians love their compact sedans, and they especially love the Toyota Corolla. The Japanese sedan is indeed constantly among the best-selling vehicles in the country, year after year. That said, the Corolla is also very popular elsewhere in the world, and has often claimed the title of best-selling vehicle in the world. The 2017 Toyota Corolla should have no trouble keeping the trend going.

A lot of features in the 2017 Toyota Corolla

The 2017 Toyota Corolla has quite a bit to offer buyers looking for a compact sedan that is fuel-efficient, powerful, fun-to-drive, safe, and technologically-advanced. We will get to the performance shortly, but let’s start with an interior view of the new 2017 Corolla. When Toyota redesigned the Corolla back in 2014, 100 mm were added to the wheelbase. That had an immediate impact on passenger room, particularly rear legroom. To this day, the 2017 Corolla remains one of the most spacious compact sedans in its segment.

In front, buyers get a clean, modern-looking dashboard with a host of technological and connectivity features. These include a 6.1-inch standard touchscreen while a 7.0-inch touchscreen is found with the XSE package. Notable features include a sunroof, automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth, dual-zone climate, leather seats, heated seats, navigation system, rear-view camera, and a lot more.

There are also a ton of safety features found in the Toyota Safety Star package which include ABS brakes with Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control and a lot more. There are also quite a few active safety technologies such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and a Pre-Collision System.

Efficiency and power under the hood of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

The base Toyota Corolla is powered by a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. This engine, along with offering plenty of power to feel confident behind the wheel, is also efficient with a combined fuel economy rating of 8.3 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.

If you are looking for an even more efficient option, there is the 2017 Toyota Corolla LE Eco which has a slightly more powerful version of the 1.8-liter engine which delivers 140 horsepower. That said, the retuned engine has an average fuel economy rating of 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers and 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. A six-speed manual is standard while a continuously variable automatic transmission with paddle shifters is optional.
